The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince_092010 |
Who would not know this famous Korean Drama "The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince"? People of all ages, all over Asia & even in European Countries have fell in love with this series. I even bought a DVD so that I can watch it whenever I feel like rewinding my favorite episodes.
Number one on my itinerary list during my first landing in Seoul, is to visit the coffee shop filming location. Have to see it in my own eyes to satisfy my K-Drama cravings....
Locating the place is not that hard, but it's quite far from the Subway Station (Hongik University/ Hongdae Station). But you won't find it tiring, because as you find your way to the cafe, you will surely enjoy the cute shops/ boutiques along the way and you may end up taking photos of it or even buying stuffs sold from the shops, though its a bit pricey... Too sad, I wasn't able to take photos, because it was raining at that time.
During my first visit here, 2010 September they are still selling souvenir items like coffee cups, notepads,, computer accessories, etc. Luckily I bought some stuffs, because on my 2nd visit , 2011 October, they don't have it anymore. I am not quite so sure if its not available during that time or they stop selling it. I will let you know, when I come back soon. :)

When you enter the gate you will be filled with memories of the series, you'll see Gong Yoo's car andon the right is Yoon Hyes's bicycle. On the wall is a big Coffee Prince logo, in Hangeul (Korean Alphabet) Keoppi Peurinseu. The windows with cute doodles/ scribbles are still there which I can say you'll definitely feel the series atmosphere. From the outside the wall mural of sunflower can be seen which can make you more feel excited as you enter the cafe.

The shop main entrance, is the door that leads to the kitchen in the series but actually it is where the toilet is located (Hwajangsil ). The left side is the stair leading to Gong Yoo's office but is off limits to customers. On the walls you can see the actors messages and signatures and a lot of memorabilias hanging. During my trips customers where mostly from Japan and Taiwan. Guess what, I even become a part time photographer in the shop (thanking them for trusting my shaky hands).

On the left side is the Order counter, where the baristas dress like the actors (cute) though the staff are mostly girls, but they are nice and very patient to the tourists. On the walls are photos of Eunhye & Gong Yoo, stuffs they used for filming and Yoo Joo's famous Sunflower painting are still on the wall.
