Walkway to Safari |
I have been working here in SG for almost 6 years and I have only visited a few tourist spots like Night Safari, Universal Studios, Songs of the Sea and Sentosa Island (luckily it is where I used to be stationed, no reason not to visit it) I also don't know why, I just realized it recently.
Since it is a holiday season and I didn't go back home for Christmas vacation, my friend & I decided to visit River Safari.
My main reason is because I wanted to see a real Panda. My other reason is.. still the Panda ^^*
Entrance of River Safari |
It is a new park located beside the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari. The Entrance is nice, high ceiling with bamboo strips design. Beautiful Trees, Floorings were wood like finish, and Columns were cladded with bamboo poles. What I like most is it is naturally ventilated and lighted.
At first, I wasn't really interested with the other animals, my only goal was to see the Pandas, but then as I walk along the park I was amazed in the facts posted on every corners and find it interesting. Also, seeing different species that I never knew, existed was fun and scary (I'm scared of reptiles)
Aside from that I hate crowded areas but I didn't notice it, even tough there are a lot o tourist that day. Thanks to the nice ventilation and greenery surroundings and column design makes it more spacious.

Bridge connecting the park surrounded with greens |
The Park is divided into categories, The 7 Rivers, The Giant Pandas & Amazon. (I need to see the 7 Rivers before I see the Pandas)
There are 7 Rivers in the park namely: Mississippi, Congo, Ganges, Nile, Murray, Mekong & Yangtze River.
As I walk along, I have found a lot of informations that I didn't know about the animals, and the current situation of the rivers. You can see live species from specific rivers as you go. This park is definitely recommended for students, they will learn a lot in here from geography, science, biology and environmental awareness as well. But also for the whole family, they will definitely enjoy the tour.
I took some photos of selected unique species and facts about them mostly in the Mississippi River.

The real BEAVER |
Beaver is a national symbol in Canada |
Below: Alligator Gar, the largest of all gars with a wide alligator-like snout with razor sharp teeth.and the Alligator Snapping Turtle which have a massive jaws that they can easily snap off one's finger. (oopss..scary)
Alligator Gar: Grows up to 3M & weighs 100kg |
And now, finally to my most awaited part of the Park...
Meet Jia Jia & Kai Kai...
It was a long queue.. We waited for at least 20mins before we finally see it.
Luckily, one of the Pandas are eating outside its cage. Sometimes they don't go out and just sleep inside. This panda keeps on eating and will only move once the bamboo is finish to look another one to munch. It was so cute and I almost want to hug and pinch it. Wish I could go near it. I only have few photos, I was starstruck and just stared at it for a long time.
Moving to another Place to get Bamboo |
Eat and Eat and Eat :) |
After the Panda adventure, went to buy some souvenirs with panda. That was the time I felt tired walking. I wasn't able to capture a good photo on the Amazon and aquarium, its dark and I only have camera phone. By the way, boat ride was fully booked that day that we weren't able to try. Looks like I need to come back next time with a good camera, and to see the huggable pandas.
The only photo I took on our way out.
