Yeouido Strip (여의도)

Yeouido Park

Every time I'm in the Land of the Morning Calm, I prefer staying around Yeouido even though it's a bit far from the tourist area.

It is Seoul's Financial & Business district (aka Manhattan of Seoul), counterpart of Ayala, Makati in PH. Maybe that is why it feels like I'm home. It is surrounded by Han River. It can be reach by Subway station - Yeouido Line 5, National Assembly & Saetgang, which are both Line 9 (these are only the Stations that I've tried).

A lot of interesting place are around this area. One is the National Assembly, where their parliament meeting is being held. You may need to email them for booking, because there are times that visitors are not allowed due to some circumstances.

Another is Yeouido Park & Han River Park which is a good choice if you want a relaxing mood , go biking or just stroll while enjoying the colourful landscape and scenic views.

For KPop fans there is KBS Building where they have an exhibition hall for tourist. But you need to check on their websites to make reservations. Or you can just hang around the area, you may chance upon a celebrity chilling at cafes or filming outside the vicinity.

Another thing why I like this area is that since offices surrounds it, you have various restaurants and cafes to choose.  Some are open 24hrs particularly the areas near the TV stations. Mostly are Korean cuisine, which is great for me. I love korean food. There is one eatery that I tried near the KBS building but I forgot the name, wherein one of the episodes of 2 Days 1 night show was filmed. The food is good and affordable especially the mandoo and kimbap. The staffs are also friendly though at first its hard to communicate about what to order. But they tried their best explain to us about their menu. You can also find this famous coffee shops here like Cafe Drop Top, Paris Croissant, Dunkin Donut & Ediya Cafe.

There is also the iconic 63 Building where you can try the Wax Museum, Sky Art & Observatory Hall at 60th floor or I Max Theatre and many others. I don't have a photo of the building, but its nice. The last time I went there it was at night and was too cold that I can't stay too long outside.

Open since 2009

Also there is E-Mart, a Korean grocery & department store. It is cheaper buying here compare to airports duty free. I usually buy brown rice tea, flavoured coffee, chocolates, cookies and other snacks to bring back home. It is near our hotel just 2 stations (National Assembly to Saetgang Station) away so I do my grocery early morning and I can just go back to our hotel to leave the stuffs.

I just love staying in that area. I don't know how to explain in words why I love this district in Seoul. I hope my photos can explain what my heart says.
