Seoul Lantern Festival

Since 2009, Seoul has been displaying beautiful and colourful at Lanterns at Cheonggyecheon Stream. It is known as Seoul Lantern Festival which is held yearly, every first Week of November for two weeks. Lanterns displayed were made by local and international artist. I have seen the festival twice, 2012 & 2014 and still find it very interesting.

Here are some of the photos from 2012 & 2014.

To go there, I suggest that its better to take Subway,  get off at Gwanghwamun Station Exit 2, so that on your way to the Festival you can also pass by Gwanghwamun Square. Usually during the Lantern Festival there is also an exhibit on the square grounds. If there is none, you can still enjoy the view at the square. There is King Sejong's Statue with a mountain background and Admiral Yi Sun-Shin, Statue with colourful fountain on the grounds.

To go directly to the Stream, get off at Jongno 3-ga  Station Exit 12, 13 or 14 and walk for about 10 mins.
